Online Teaching and Teacher Training
As the world continues to transition to more and more online connection and engagement, so does the teaching and practice of yoga. To meet the needs of the broader yoga community and evolution of the times, Yoga Alliance uses sound research, data, and proven methodologies to adapt its standards to the online environment.
Exploring Yoga Alliance
Enhanced RYS Standards
Based on feedback from membership and the broader yoga community, Yoga Alliance launched new standards for its RYS 200 credential as well as a strengthened application and review process for all new RYS applicants. These enhanced standards now include the implementation of a strengthened RYS application process, which will provide for greater shared accountability to meet or exceed the new standards.
Support for Re-Opening & Recovery
To support you in maintaining safe in-person yoga teaching and practice, Yoga Alliance has partnered with the public health organization The Public Good Projects to create the Back to Flow Toolkit—a resource for you and the broader community to use in maintaining a safe, ahimsa-centered environment for the communities you serve.
Online Learning Resources
Due to sweeping changes in the yoga industry, many classes and trainings are moving online. To support this transition, we have compiled a variety of online teaching best practices, tools, and resources for members to leverage. Members also have the option to display online offerings and closed-captioning capabilities to their YA profiles for directory users to easily find.
Member-Wide Ethical Commitment
The Yoga Alliance Ethical Commitment supports our members and broader yoga community in welcoming all who wish to practice yoga. It unites membership under the YA Code of Conduct, Scope of Practice, and shared responsibility to equity in yoga.
